Rhododendron
Rhododendron is a hardy plant with an exuberant bloom. The name directly translates as ‘rose tree’, probably due to its beautiful, brightly coloured flowers and lush growth – some shrubs can grow quite large. The BEST-select variety is a unique mix of purple-flared young shoots, dark brown leaves and dark pink flowers.
general care
Rhododendrons are acid loving plants. They thrive well in humus-rich, well-drained sandy and sandy loam soils. They like shade or partial shade and require sufficient nutrition and moist soils. The ideal time to plant is spring or autumn. Cut back your rhododendron by a third shortly after flowering to maintain the plant’s shape.
