General info

Like all other panicle hydrangeas, this select is virtually disease-free. Even when this panicle hydrangea is not in bloom, it retains its ornamental value. The branches are burgundy red and contrast beautifully with the dark green leaves. After flowering, the flowers will dry well so that they remain on the plant throughout the winter. Snow and frost then conjure up a delicate interplay of lines on them, reminiscent of Bruges lace. In America, Pinky-Winky Plus is included in the list of Proven Winners under the name Pinky-Winky Prime. Proven Winners awards and promotes promising newcomers to the market.

Maintenance

The panicle hydrangea loves a spot in full sun in soil that is not too dry. Sufficient fertilization every spring guarantees sturdy branches, which in turn ensures beautiful flower panicles that can grow up to 50 cm long. In terms of maintenance, it is best to use the pruning shears vigorously in early March. We will prune all sturdy stems back to about 30 cm above the ground. We remove the thin twigs completely. You don't need to do anything more; after just about 4 months, an exuberant bloom will be the reward. Hydrangea paniculata Pinky-Winky Plus is a vigorous grower: therefore, provide one plant per square meter for group plantings. As a standalone plant in a mixed border, it is better to give it a slightly larger space. It is guaranteed to become an eye-catcher in your garden.
